July River of Stone #3 - rusty tussock moth larva

Those four mountains you carry upon your elongated, red spotted body look like yellowed paint brushes. The bristly protruding hairs, spikey tail, and hairy antennae make you look fierce.   Yet, you are beautiful in a way and certainly more interesting than the brown moth you will become.

So - you think sometimes the caterpillar is sometimes better than the butterfly? In this case, maybe yes...

Barb, when we are speaking aesthetically, then yes...certainly better as caterpillar. However, I am told these critters can do some damage to new growth, leaves, stems and bark, if there are many. So, in that instance, the moth form might be better. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
